With 3 Conditions, Be Alert that Kidney Disease May Be Getting WorseAlthough kidney disease gets relapse frequently, most cases are preventable and controllable. But why some kidney patients still progress to kidney failure? That is because they ignore some signals that indicate the changes of illness conditions so as to delay the best time for treatment. Here we list 3 conditions. If you have any of them, you should be alert that kidney disease may be getting worse.

Foamy urine can be a sign of relapse.

We all know that small foam in urine is a typical sign of proteinuria. The more protein leakage, the greater the urine tension and the more foam. On the contrary, when the protein is inhibited, the foam will slowly disappear.

After steroids, immunosuppressants and other medication application, proteinuria can be controlled at a low level. But because kidney disease are prone to relapse, and kidney patients have a poor immunity, this can cause the relapse of proteinuria. When having a relapse, patients with different medical condition may have different proteinuria condition. Not all kidney patients have massive bubbles in urine. Once there are a lot of bubbles, attach importance and communicate with doctors timely.

Swelling is sometimes mild and sometimes severe, and kidney filtration function is not stable.

In early stage of kidney damage, water and electrolyte metabolism becomes disordered, which can cause water and sodium retention. Because of massive protein leakage, the swelling will become worse. After treatment, proteinuria can be reduced, and some renal function can be restored. In most patients, the symptoms of edema will be relieved in the later stage.

But when proteinuria has a relapse, swelling will also come back. Some kidney patients may think that it is common to have slight swelling after kidney function damage, but if swelling is very severe, it may be a signal of kidney function acceleration. And long-term edema also can aggravate the disease, so pay attention to the changes of eyelid, lower limbs and ankles in the daily.

Blood pressure fluctuates and the medicine is not well controlled.

In stage 1 and 2, the damage to renal cells, glomeruli and tubules is mild. After treatment, the condition can be stabilized, and a part of kidney function can be restored. And there are not very severe complications. In stage 3, it is renal insufficient stage. The damage is at least 50%, and various complications will appear. High blood pressure is an obvious complication.

Lowering blood pressure treatment is the key to delaying renal function. It is usually necessary to take a variety of antihypertensive drugs in combination, such as ACEI and ARBs, and at the same time to reduce proteinuria and protect the kidney, which can generally control the stability of blood pressure. If kidney function gets worse, blood pressure will also rise. For some kidney patients, they have such a condition: blood pressure reduces after taking antihypertensive drugs, and rises if stopping the drugs. The fluctuation can speed up kidney failure. You should find out the source and stabilize blood pressure to avoid kidney failure.
