After cancer and heart disease, chronic kidney disease (CKD) is the third major cause of death in the world. It will bring a series of syndrome, severe symptoms and complications in clinic. At present, traditional therapies for chronic kidney disease (CKD) mainly are dialysis and renal transplantation in the world.

Dialysis, which also known as artificial kidney, can be divided into hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. The hemodialysis is a kind of blood purification technology which is using a dialysis machine to instead kidney function, and then maintains life. As semipermeable membrane, peritoneal dialysis takes advantage of gravity to inject dialyzate into the abdomen of patient via catheter. It uses the concentration gradient to remove the metabolic production and toxicant, correct the disturbances of water and electrolyte through constant change of dialyzate. Renal transplantation implants a healthy kidney to replace the damaged kidney by surgery.

Dialysis and renal transplantation have made great contributions to saving patients’ life and improving the quality of their life. However, there are still many disadvantages. Dialysis, for example, may bring all kinds of complications, such as anemia, itchy skin. Inadequate dialysis can also cause many symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, bad breath, mental symptoms, high potassium disease, high blood pressure, pericarditis, heart failure and pulmonary edema, etc. Renal transplantation, by contrast, can solve the problem of kidney damage and make the patients have the opportunity to live a normal life. However, a match is hard to find. And there is too much people need kidney transplant. Many patients even have no time to wait. In addition, even received a kidney transplant, rejection will also cause the failure of surgery.

Both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis can reduce the patients’ suffering and extend their life to some degree. But if there is a better way to fundamentally solve this problem, patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) should be reconsidered.

In fact, there are many advanced alternative treatments for CKD, such as Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Blood Pollution Therapy, immunotherapy etc. All of them can take effects to repair kidney damages and improve kidney function quickly.
