How Long You Need to Take Medicine for Kidney Disease
There are many kinds of chronic kidney diseases, including primary nephropathy and secondary nephropathy, glomerular disease and renal tubular disease. The duration of medication for various kidney diseases ranges from a few months to a lifetime.

Today, I would like to introduce several typical kidney diseases, which can be divided into two categories. One is that long-term stability can be achieved by receiving drugs for several months (traditional Chinese medicine + western medicine is needed when necessary). The other requires a lifetime of medication to prevent further deterioration.

Common kidney diseases that require medication for several months

1. Stage 1 Membranous Nephropathy

Membranous Nephropathy is divided into four stages. The first stage of Membranous Nephropathy is the earliest stage. There are immune complexes on the basement membrane of glomeruli, but there are no rete pegs, which appears in stage 2 or 3. The disease is usually mild, and proteinuria is usually less than stage 2 or stage 3. With proper treatment, it can be stabilized.

2. Purpura Nephritis

This is a kind of vasculitis caused by allergic stimuli such as drugs, food, plant pollen and insect bites. The prognosis of patients with simply hematuria is almost good, and some scholars believe it is the only kidney disease that can be completely cured.

3. Mild mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis

Although the mesangial cells have hyperplasia, they are less than 3 and the mesangial region is small. Mild mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis is generally sensitive to drugs, and the prognosis is better than other mesangial proliferative nephropathy and IgA Nephropathy.

Common kidney diseases that require lifelong medication

1. Lupus Nephritis

This is nephritis caused by systemic lupus erythematosus. Lupus has a period of activity during which there is a significant risk of renal failure. Continue to maintain low-dose hormone therapy to prevent relapses even after the cessation of activity.

2. Diabetic Nephropathy

Diabetic Nephropathy can occur after 5 years of diabetes. Not only the kidney is affected, and uremia risk is high, but also hypertension, high uric acid, high blood lipids, coronary heart disease, retinopathy and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases appears, so you need long-term medication. Diabetic Nephropathy together with Lupus Nephritis above are the most difficult kidney disease to treat.

3. Chronic renal failure/uremia

It generally refers to the chronic progressive renal parenchymal damage caused by various causes. With it, nephrons have excessive necrosis and cannot be revived. In addition to western medicine for hypertension, phosphorus, anemia, uric acid and symptomatic treatment, you need anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrosis Chinese medicine.

Note: These are statistical results, which are not suitable for all kidney patients. There are still cases of first-stage Membranous Nephropathy and Purpura Nephritis that require lifelong medication, and of Lupus Nephritis that stop medicine without recurrence.

These are the more distinctive kidney diseases. The prognosis of most nephropathy is quite different, and there is no obvious rule of prognosis, such as the common primary nephrotic syndrome.

No matter which kind of kidney disease you have, you should use medicine under the guidance of professional nephrologist so as to shorten medicine time to the greatest extent. For more information on CKD, please leave a message below or contact online doctor.
