A Patient Story of Chronic Glomerulonephritis
Name:
BHEEKARY SOMDUTT

Gender: Male

Age: 42 years old

Country: Mauritius

He is a policeman, he had severe back pain six months ago, then he did some check-up.

Blood pressure: 220/110mm Hg

Creatinine level: Above 300umol/L

At that time, the local doctors prescribed some drugs to control blood pressure and lower creatinine, meanwhile, he was recommended to follow a scientific diet and get more rest.

Two months later, he felt nausea and vomiting, his lower limbs became swollen. Then he went to the hospital for a check-up.

Blood pressure: 190/110mm Hg

Creatinine level: Above 4000umol/L

At the local hosptial, he underwent dialyis for three times a week. Besides, he was suggested to take anti-hypertensive durgs orally.

On 19th, April, 2014, he came to our hospital for further treatment. Then he made a careful check-up.

And the results are as follows:

Urine volume: 100ml/24h

Blood pressure: 190/110mm Hg

Mild edema of lower limbs

Red blood count: 4.10×1012 /L

Hemoglobin 115g/L; Creatinine 1172umol/L; BUN 23.3mmol/L; Potassium 5.24mmol/L; Phosphorus 1.93mmol/L; Calcium 2.35mmol/L

Early diagnosis: chronic glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney failure, renal anemia, renal hypertension, metabolic acidosis

During his stay, our experienced nephrologists treated him with hemofiltration, hemodialysis, high-flux hemodialysis, Hot Compress Therapy, Foot Bath Therapy, Acupuncture, Moxibustion, oral intake of Mai Kang He Ji and so on. His condition is quite serious and what we can do is to stablize his condition, so it is really difficult to reverse this kind of kidney damage.

Lab results before hospital discharge:

Hemoglobin 107g/L; Creatinine 1020umol/L; BUN 14.5mmol/L, Potassium 4.06mmol/L; Phosphorus 1.32mmol/L; Calcium 2.27mmol/L; β2-microglobulin 34.50mg/L; Blood pressure 130/80-140/90 mmHg.

In addition, his skin tones became normal and urine volume increases.
