IgA Nephropathy Diet,Kidney Disease DietA proper diet plan plays a significant role for patients with kidney damage. There is no exception for IgA Nephropahy patients, let alone patients with stage 3 kidney damage. Well then, what are the diet therapy for patients with stage 3 IgA nephropathy?

IgA Nephropathy is an autoimmune system which is characterized by the antibodies called IgA lodges in the glomerular mesangial area. The diet should be healthy, and proper diet can help ease symptoms, control illness condition progression, reduce burden to kidneys and preserve kidney function. Here is a brief guidance of proper diet for you.

1. Low-salt

IgA nephropathy can cause high blood pressure which will in turn worsen renal damages. Well control of high blood pressure can help reduce proteinuria and hematuria and significantly slow down illness progression. Besides taking high blood pressure medicine, a low-salt diet can help control high blood pressure and the daily intake of sodium should be controlled into 2-3g.

2. Low-fat.

Fatty foods can cause high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol which can increase the risk of cardiovascular problems. Have less or no animal offals, use plant oils to replace animal oils while cooking dishes. Have more fresh vegetables and fruits which contain rich vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Some fresh vegetables and fruits can also help ease hematuria.

3. Low-phosphorus

As the kidneys fail to work to filter phosphorus from body, high levels of phosphorus in body can result in tons of complications like skin itching, bone problems etc. The diet is necessary to limit the phosphorus intake. Yogurt, peas, nuts and beans containing phosphorus must be avoided.

4. Moderate proteins

Protein intake should be controlled because too much protein intake can increase the production of nitrogenous wastes and increase burdens to kidneys. High-quality protein such as milk, fresh water fish, egg white, lean meat and chicken are good choice because they contain more essential amino acids and produce less wastes after being absorbed by the body. Now your kidney function is still normal, but there is lots of protein in urine, then the intake of protein should be limited into 1-1.5g/kg; But if your kidney function is damaged severely, then the amount should be controlled into 0.6-0.8g/kg.

5. Avoid alcoholic drinks

It is better that alcoholic drinks, spicy and stimulating food should be avoided .

All in all, the illness condition is different from person to person so the dietary principles should be different. Therefore, you can leave a message below or talk with our online doctors for an individualized suggestion.
