5 Common Signs of Rapidly Progressive Glomerulonephritis (RPGN)

When uremia happens, it usually does not give out any signs. Therefore, to reduce the possibility of uremia to the minimum, you should take preventives as early as possible. RPGN is a common cause of uremia. In this article, let’s have a discussion about such a disease.

What is rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis?

Rapidly Progressive Glomerulonephritis (RPGN) is not the general acute nephritis. It can occur in any pathological type of kidney patients, such as IgA Nephropathy, Lupus Nephritis, allergic Purpura Nephritis, Membranous Proliferative Nephritis, acute post streptococcal glomerulonephritis and so on. Through pathological type of puncture, it can be found that more than 50% of glomeruli have crescent, so this kind of nephropathy is also known as crescent nephritis.

5 signs of RPGN

This kind of kidney disease is fierce. Once it occurs, it progresses quickly into kidney failure or uremia within several weeks or months. To prevent this disease, once you have the following five conditions, you should seek medical treatment immediately.

-The volume of urine suddenly decreases. Usually, the urine volume of renal patients before renal failure will not have obvious changes, and the urine volume is maintained at 1000-2000ml per day. However, if the urine volume is sharply reduced, or even less than 400ml per day, oliguria should be immediately excluded.

-Creatinine levels rise rapidly in the short term. Be aware of the possibility of acute kidney failure.

-The illness has taken a sudden turn for the worse. In most cases, it is manifested as glomerular disease, and symptoms such as proteinuria, occult blood and swelling present and become worse suddenly.

-Serious complications occur. RPGN can speed up inflammation in the kidneys, causing complications such as a rapid rise in blood pressure.

-Complications are aggravated. A few kidney patients have high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. If those complications become worse suddenly, do not ignore them.

To maintain kidney function and avoid accidental damage, the best way is to take preventatives and have regular checkups.
