Question: I have my child of 3 who had edema. Diagnosed long after he had Nephrotic Syndrome, we started treatment for more than 9 months. Treatment consisted of administration of corticosteroid at a regressive dose (20mg / day, 10mg / day, 5mg / day). He is not yet cured and has edema at times. Could you guide us for alternative medicine or any other advises?
Answer: Edema is a typical symptom of Nephrotic Syndrome. And it is usually associated with massive proteinuria. Too much protein leakage can decrease plasma colloid osmotic pressure and make fluid go into tissue space, leading to edema. Does your child still have proteinuria? And what is his 24h urine protein? If he really has a large amount of proteinuria, he should control his proteinuria firstly.
Since your child has taken corticosteroid for a long time but does not get satisfied effect, here we recommend him to try a systemic treatment. It is Toxin-Removing Treatment, also known as Detoxification Therapy. With long-term Nephrotic Syndrome, there must be a lot of excessive substances in the blood, due to the impaired renal function. Those substances do not only cause direct kidney damage, but also counteract the effect of medication to restrain you from getting recovery.
Toxin-Removing Treatment is made up of various therapies, such as Plasma Exchange, Oral Chinese Medicine, External Chinese Therapies (like Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Medicated Bath, Steam Therapy, etc), Cytokine Infusion Therapy, Negative Oxygen Infusion Therapy, Ozone Therapy, Vitamin and Nutrient Supplement, Good Habits, etc. Those therapies can work together to eliminate wastes and extra fluid from body via urine, sweat and bowel movement. It can also dilate blood vessels and clear up stasis to ensure blood flow to be fluent so that the provided oxygen, nutrients, vitamins and other essential elements can be transported into nidus to speed up kidney recovery. Moreover, they can restore the balance of anti-inflammatory cytokines and pro-inflammatory cytokines to reduce renal inflammation and control the disease from getting worse. After about one week’s treatment, edema will disappear. After about half month’s treatment, proteinuria will be reduced. After about one month’s treatment, Nephrotic Syndrome will be under control. Because both immunity and kidney condition gets strengthened, the disease won’t relapse.
The above medicine is helpful for Nephrotic Syndrome patients to eradicate edema completely, but it is not suitable for all patients. Now you can send a copy of your lab report to renal-disease@hotmail.com. Our renal experts will help you analyze it and then give you suggestions on treatment.
